I’ve been with East Lothian Council for — let me count — nine years. I really was attracted by the chance to use what I do best to help other people — of course, the secure employment and good conditions
didn’t hurt either. The first thing that became clear when I joined was just how big the council’s remit is — you name it, they provide it. My job’s helped raise my awareness of local issues, and I take an active
part in my community by helping out with the After School Club Committee.
Here, all employees have equal opportunities and because things are fair, you feel included and valued at work. I’ve learned so much about the services available and have relayed my skills and knowledge to help the wider public. I know
I’m really doing my bit for the community I live in.
